Earlier this year the Iselin Fire Co. Dist. 11 received an e-mailed letter from a representative of the U.S. State Department's International Visitors Program in New York, NY. The letter was a request to arrange a meeting between members of our department and Mr. Raphael Sampaio who serves as a provisional volunteer Fire Chief in a city of Paragominas located in the State of Para, Brazil. The City of Paragominas Volunteer Fire Department is in the process of expanding their operational capabilities and researching ways to do so. Mr. Sampaio was in the area last month visiting several Volunteer Fire Districts in order to obtain a firsthand look on their methods of maintaining the efficiency needed to protect the communities that the serve. We hope that our input contributes to the future safety of the citizens of Paragominas as well as the men and women that serve them. We enjoyed Mr. Sampaio's visit we are also looking forward to a long friendship between our two departments.
Woodbridge Township Mayor J. McCormac presented a proclamation to Mr. Sampaio upon his arrival.
