| District 11 joined some other local Fire Companies and residents in congratulating Iselin District 9's new addition to their apparatus. They recently purchased and put in service a new Seagrave Engine.
The day started out with a dedication of the new 9-6 at the District 9 substation in Menlo Park Terrace. Chief Bennett then asked the attending Fire Companies to "wetdown" the new engine, a longstanding tradition in the fire service where other departments hose down the new apparatus to christen it. The wetdown was interrupted briefly when Fords Fire Department was dispatched to a structure fire. Several of the attending Fire Companies were called to assist, including members of Districts 11 & 9.
After the wetdown was complete, Chief Bennett led us on a parade through his district which finished at Merrill Park. There they had a party with food, refreshments, live bands, and some great camaraderie. Jamesburg FD assisted District 11 in covering Districts 9 and 11 for alarms on what turned out to be a busy day with 5 calls.
