Our regular drill this month was live fire training at the Middlesex County Fire Academy.
We arrived at the Fire Academy at 1930 hrs. and began setting up. Engine 11-3 set up as the attack pumper, with Engine 11-1 providing light and the Rescue working as the SCBA fill station. We trained in Building 4, which is a residential mockup. We ran three evolutions simulating different locations: 1) Basement Fire 2) First Floor Fire 3) Second Floor Fire. Also attending was Iselin District #9, we took this opportunity to work side by side with our neighboring department.
Each evolution was followed up with a short critique of our work. We talk about what was done right, and what was done wrong. Live fire training is a great way to sharpen your skills in a controlled environment.
