| This Saturday, the Department held our annual Open House. This event is held during National Fire Prevention Week and the theme this year was to Practice your Escape Plan. Our focus was to interact with the public as well as to educate them on basic fire safety measures with their family.
The Open House was held at Fire Headquarters from 10am to 3pm, with the first group of people showing up at 10am sharp. There was a very good turnout, with over 200 people attending. We had five learning stations, with the sixth station being photos with Sparky the Fire Dog.
Chief Einhorn and President Eckensberger presented the winners of the annual poster and essay contests with their well deserved awards.
The Open House was the end of a long week for the Firefighters. They spent the days teaching Fire Safety at the three elementary schools in our fire district. They spent their nights setting up for the Open House on Saturday. There were many hours put in this week, but its all worth it seeing the joy on the children's faces while they are exploring a fire truck or learning about fire safety. We hope that the knowledge provided by our firefighters will help save lives. |
