At 14:24 hrs Districts 11 and 9 were dispatched for a reported structure fire. Assistant Chief Ed Mullen Sr. (Dist 9) was first on scene. He established command and confirmed heavy smoke showing. Engine 11-1 and Truck 9-2-4 arrived and their crews attacked the fire. Assistant Chief Wertz arrived on Engine 1 and assumed command while Asst. Chief Mullen assumed operations. The fire was contained to a second floor kitchen and outside deck.
Districts 11 and 9 were assisted by Colonia, Carteret, Hopelawn, Fords, Woodbridge and Metuchen.
