| On a late Saturday morning, the Department was dispatched to a report of a vehicle fire on Kennedy Street near Middlesex Avenue. Upon arrival, the first due Engine found a working car fire in the driveway of the owners home. An 1 3/4" hand-line was stretched to the front of the vehicle with the attached piercing nozzle to make the initial knockdown. The fire was extinguished with no extension to the structure. To expedite the task, the Holmatro "Combi" Tool was used to open the hood. This was one of first experiences using the piercing nozzle and the Holmatro Tools to extinguish a fire in the engine compartment. Both tools together proved to be effective. |
