At around 3:30 pm on Saturday a dual response of Districts 11 & 9 was requested for a motor vehicle accident on New Dover Road, in the area of Fire Station #2. Upon the arrival of the District 11's Chief Officer, he reported that a vehicle had crashed into a telephone pole and several live high voltage power lines had come down. The driver was able to get out of the vehicle and walk away from the power lines. However, the high voltage electrical wires began to spark and had ignited a few small fires as a result. A perimeter was established for safety and power line crews responded to cut the electricity to the damaged wires. Once the power was secured, firefighters were able to extinguish the fires.
