| On October 2, 2010 the Iselin Fire Department District #11 held its annual Fire Prevention Open House. This year's theme was "Smoke Alarms: A Sound You Can Live With". During the open house the members of the department get to interact with the community as they make their way through the educational stations that the department has set up.
The department also runs its annual essay and poster contest. The essay winners receive the Charles E Hutterman award. The winners received a certificate of award and a $50.00 gift card.
